The movie is without doubt a perfect union with mean streets and goodfellas. But let’s face it, why do we click into a certian HD DVD on amazon, we know whether or not we like the movie, honest? We want the goods on the describe quality! Let me yelp you something even if you can’t rob the needed violence in this movie, collect it. Even if you can’t stand all the unpleasant language, regain it. Even if you reflect Sharon Stone got her acting degree out of a cereal box, salvage it! Let me stutter you something, this three hour narrative looks mind numbingly pretty. I literally sat in fear at the sheer beauty of it, I mean what could possibly demonstrate of HD DVD represent quality than vegas’ quick-witted lights and scorsese’ masterful direction? Casino, that’s what. Do yourself a favor and acquire this disc proper now because if you don’t; Nicky will near wait on with a bat and if you beat him with a bat, he’ll reach aid with a knife and you beat him with a knife, he’ll arrive benefit with a gun and if you beat him with a gun, you better raze him because he’ll maintain comin’ befriend, and attend until one of you is expressionless.

I mean that statement in two ways. First, in my humble view, this is Martin Scorcese at his finest. This is better than Goodfellas by a wide margin. All of the regulars give awesome performances in this (even Sharon Stone, who I can’t stand!) . If you like mafia pictures, this is the BEST one to maintain. I also mean that it’s a gigantic relate due to the fact that it’s on HD-DVD. The report is astonishingly lustrous and positive and the lights of Las Vegas really jump out of the television. It’s almost 3-D! The extras are big, but I’d say adequate. That’s the reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5. There is the obligitory commentary, deleted scenes, and a couple featurettes. It’s all whipped cream and a cherry on top of an proper sundae! I do like that you can gawk the extras and the movie at the same time with commentary running. This and Batman Begins are the reasons you should have an HD DVD player! Note: I have the HD DVD drive attached to my Xbox 360 and it works brilliantly!

If you previously bought the SHOWGIRLS VIP edition – this is the precise same disc only packaged without the box and all the trinkets that came with that edition. You bag commentary by a guy who is a fan of the movie and helps host behind night screenings, the Scores girls talk about stripping and critique those sequences, and there’s an frail promotional part made during shooting that is called “A Diary”. The transfer is pleasant and the extras are fun, though none of them seem to cloak anybody associated with the film. If you did not take the glam deluxe box situation this is a cheap scheme to earn all those features without hunting it down. Otherwise if you have that edition, this is merely a double dip and repackaging of the same disc with unusual mask art.

SHOWGIRLS begs for better extras. I would cherish to hear a director’s commentary or Elizabeth Berkley and Gina Gershon talk about the film. But that hasn’t happened yet. Maybe one day we can hope for a Criterion edition and all the stops will be pulled out!

This is the quintessential awful movie. It’s so unpleasant it’s enormous! I remember when this movie came out and I occupy it was the director’s scheme to beget a serious movie. Well I’m gratified it didn’t turn out that plot. This has to be by far one of the most hilarious movies I’ve seen. The over-over-overacting by Elizabeth Berkeley is pure comedy and will sustain you laughing from the first scene to the last. It’s glowing hard to grasp any of it seriously when scene after scene after scene is unprejudiced so ridiculous, I.E. the pool sex scene. If one could even call it that…watching that terrible gal flop around in the water like that reminded me of a fish out of water fighting for its life. It was vast. The dance sequences were substantial, I must say I enjoyed the dancing. A lot of people say this is a despicable movie and it is, but the key is to not acquire any of it seriously and honest turn your brain off and look it. You can’t attend but laugh, I promise. I know when I first saw it years years years ago, I notion it was the worst allotment of crap I had seen…then I saw it again and again and it’s the movie I look when I need a damn estimable laugh. Definitely a must have.

This is a sparkling flyover with expedient narration and a pleasing glean, so the missing star is for what’s left out. Of course, no tour of Scotland could include everything (I spent two years of my life there, and there is noteworthy I missed), but I was so disappointed when it ended without a contemplate at so many of Scotland’s most renowned places. Yes, Stirling and Edinburgh were there, and Loch Lomond, Loch Ness and a brief view of Inverness… We discover Bannockburn, but not Culloden. The Isle of Mull, but not Iona. Nothing of Glencoe. And nothing of the Isle of Skye, the most celebrated of all Scottish islands and arguably the most comely. Nor do we arrive the far north, so there is nothing of Orkney or Shetland. Perhaps there were rules about flying over St. Andrews, so we contemplate the cathedral ruins at one raze and the golf course at the other, but absolutely nothing of the jewel of an traditional cathedral town that lies in between…. The other sizable omission is the lack of identification (on either credits or liner notes, which were absent altogether) of the many shapely songs underlying the memoir. These were well-chosen, in a variety of styles, and remarkably un-cliched, so that we had choral works, folk songs, classical and contemporary, well representing the range of Scotland’s culture, but I’d have loved to know the names, the artists and possibly what CDs might absorb them. For a Scotophile and a music lover, this is a serious omission. I can only hope there is a Visions of Scotland, Fraction II, that lets us look the Scotland we missed – and maybe a companion CD, or at least a link to the artists whose music provided so worthy beauty and atmosphere.

Although the islands are ignored, the crisp photography, narrator with a friendly burr and heavenly music create this an exceptional entry in the “Visions of” collection. Almost equal to “Over Ireland,” detached the best of the fly-by films.
